A dazzling choice of dining and drinking establishments, Morzine offers something for everyone.
Morzine and Avoriaz offer a vast array of bars and restaurants. You can find everything: road-side crêpe stalls; informal pizza bars; gourmet, fine-dining establishments and everything in between. Similarly there are wine-bars and pubs, all with different characters, hiding around every corner. Here are a selection of our favourites. You can find a full list here.
Traditional Restaurants
L’Etale: a bustling brasserie style restaurant with a large menu and a fun atmosphere, l’Etale is run by a local ‘Morzinoise’ Vincent Baud. Good portion sizes, local specialities, pizzas, vegetarian options. Open during the summer and winter seasons non-stop all-day long.
La Grange offers a choice of local alpine and traditional French dishes that change with the seasons. In winter their wood burning stove will keep you cozy, and in summer they have a terrace where you to enjoy the sun.
Bec Janue: Morzine's very own micro-brewary, offering a wide range of craft beers plus nourishing food with fresh ingredients, sourcing as much as possible from local producers. Simple and seasonal menus, with hearty dishes for both carnivores and vegetarians.
Hideout Hostel: The greatest tastes of the orient together with a distinctly Japanese twist. An eclectic mix of small plates which have our mouths watering. Look out for the daily specials for some truly delectable dishes. Vegi and Vegan friendly.
O Chalet: offer a large selection of THE BEST gourmet burgers and wraps and are located right in the heart of Morzine. They also have a great take-away and breakfast menu.
La Rotonde: the ‘grown-up sister’ of L’Etale run by the same team but with a more sophisticated menu and décor. Lovely garden and terrace for the summer months. La Rotonde is open most of the year, even in quiet seasons.
Le Clin d’Oeil: hidden away near Carrefour in the lower part of Morzine, le Clin d’Oeil (which means ‘wink’) is run by Kristel and her husband who are originally from the south-west of France. Their menu combines local specialities from the Savoie region like fondue & tartiflette with south-west dishes such as Cassoulet. Open all year-round.
La Chaudanne: a newly renovated old favourite run by Thierry and his wife. A great setting in a traditional chalet-style building with a wine bar in the basement and a lovely terrace for sunny days. A mix of local specialities and French cuisine, everything is always cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. A real treat.
La Fruitière: a traditional restaurant serving all the local specialities involving cheese! Run in partnership with the cheese-makers also on the same road, this restaurant was recently built in the style of a traditional mountain chalet to offer a true savoyard experience.
L’Atelier: a high-class restaurant located in the Hotel Samoyède opposite the tourist office. If you are looking for a high quality restaurant for a special occasion, then the Atelier is well worth a visit. A tasting menu is available to sample a selection of their delicious dishes.
Le PaSsionNant: a fabulous new fine-dining restaurant in a breautiful old farmhouse. Locally sourced ingredients, expertly combined to form stunning plates of food that taste divine. If you are a foody then this place is ot to be missed!
Coffee Shops
Satellite: a coffee shop located on Rue du Bourg serving a large selection of coffees along with cakes, snacks and lunches.
Beanies: a coffee shop/cocktail bar/ski shop located on Rue du Bourg serving a large selection of coffees, amazing cocktails (some of the best we have tasted anywhere in the world never mind just in Morzine!) and other drinks.
La Dez’Alp: a coffee shop/restaurant located in the lower part of Morzine near Intersport.
Le Coup de Coeur: a popular wine bar right in the centre of Morzine that is always busy, serving good wine, bar snacks and pizzas. Often the only problem can be finding a table!
Wine Bars
Alpine Lounge: a wine bar/low-key restaurant located in the centre of Morzine opposite the tourist office. Enjoy a meal or just a glass of wine and some bar snacks and the owner loves to chat to the clientèle and share his passion for wine.
La Chaudanne: situated just on the edge of Morzine centre opposite Ed supermarket, this lovely wine bar is in the basement of La Chaudanne restaurant and is beautifully renovated and very popular with locals with a great sommellier who can advise you about which wine to choose. Delicious tapas is also served if you get peckish.
Le Coup de Coeur: a popular wine bar right in the centre of Morzine that is always busy, serving good wine, bar snacks and pizzas. Often the only problem can be finding a table!
Après Ski Bars
Le Tremplin: located at the foot of the Pleney slopes in the centre of Morzine and has become a firm favourite for Après-Ski. A large selection of events and DJs throughout the season.
Le Tibetan: lively for Après and in the evenings, Tony has been running Le Tibetan for many years and it is a popular hang-out for locals and tourists alike.
The Cavern Bar: A late night bar which also does après, the Cavern opens for après but then doesn’t usually get going until well into the evening and is open until 1am or 2am depending on the time of year. Be prepared for mayhem, crowds and dancing!
Le Crépu: A popular bar located in the centre of Morzine, run by a great team of French guys.
Bar Robinson: An old favourite for après-ski. Run by an old Morzinois couple, this bar serves the lethal Mutzig beer plus other basic drinks. Don’t expect anything fancy but a great atmosphere and a popular hang-out from 4-8pm!
L’Opéra: A nightclub located under the Etale restaurant. Doesn’t get going until well after midnight and stays open until dawn, so for the real party animals! Be warned, drinks are expensive, it’s best value to buy a bottle of spirits to share between friends and you get free mixers. Often the entry price includes one drink and cloakroom is usually obligatory.
